                                                              USE CASE

1) CLOSING LOOPHOLES IN AUTOMATED CAR WASH SYSTEMS

Getting your car washed these days is a display of human innovation. Automated machine systems know just the right amount of chemicals, water jet pressure, and scrubber rotation speed needed, as well as when and for how long each of those should be used. However, despite the wonder of automation, certain facets of this process are prone to good old human error. The catch here is that these cleaning chemicals, known officially as car shampoo, are stored in tanks and naturally deplete over time with use. With so many different tanks located in many different car wash spots, someone needs to make sure car shampoo doesn’t run out!

2) DATA-DRIVEN OUTDOOR ADVERTISING WITH JCDECAUX LITHUANIA

According to the statistics, in 2020, global expenditure for out-of-home advertising was estimated to be around 29 billion dollars. Experts project this figure to only increase in the coming years. This projection applies even more as businesses recover after the global pandemic and want to restore their customer base. Companies invest considerable amounts of money to reach the broadest possible audience and leave an impression. Such massive investments into outdoor advertising must pay off since they have been increasing over the years. However, it can be a hit or miss without gathering intelligence. Advertisement like that lacks concrete data to back up the return-on-investment ratio. So, how can we measure the effectiveness of outdoor advertisements?

3) SECURE INTERNET CONNECTIVITY FOR METAL BENDING MACHINERY

Teltonika Networks partner, Factobotics, received a request from their client for a custom sheet metal bending machine solution. Soon the company discovered a new possible business niche as there were numerous similar requests from other clients. Many manufacturing facilities needed a customized sheet metal bending machine. So, Factobotics came up with an idea to make a standardized robot that clients could adjust without requiring a new one for each project. This is how RoboBend was established.

4) REMOTELY CONTROLLED URBAN IRRIGATION SYSTEM

The urban areas keep growing at an astounding rate. The landscape changes so fast that the microclimate within the city limits also alternates noticeably. A big city can affect temperature, rainfall, wind, air pressure and much more. Fog lingers around for longer, and the pollution gets more concentrated. The dark tones of asphalt and roofing for offices and residential buildings absorb heat from the sunlight. Then, during the night, that heat is radiated out. Due to this, urban engineering is putting all efforts into combating these unwanted side effects. And it seems that one of the main ways to make things better is the green city movement.

5) TELTONIKA NETWORKS ENABLING AUTONOMOUS HELIUM MINERS IN REMOTE LOCATIONS

Founded in 2013, Helium had a mission of making it easier to build a network of connected devices. Helium is a decentralized wireless network enabling devices to wirelessly connect to the Internet and geolocate themselves without the need for power-hungry satellite location hardware or expensive cellular plans throughout the world. The Helium network consists of a wide-area wireless networking system, a blockchain, and a protocol token. Such a network of independent providers is not reliant on monopolist coordinators to send and receive data or geolocate themselves. Besides, miners are incentivized by receiving crypto tokens to expand network coverage and validate the Helium network’s integrity. We were excited to learn about such a revolutionary network alternative that provides more options to the users. The values of Helium are coherent with the long-standing philosophy behind Teltonika Networks products and systems. From the very beginning, we built our RutOS software on OpenWRT, believing that a system should be open-source to offer the most flexibility to each client, allowing them to adapt it to their needs. As usual, just like we store all of our Packet Manager components and tutorials open to the public, we are also happy to release the configurations to make our devices compatible with the Helium network requirements.

6) PLUG AND PLAY CONNECTIVITY FOR EV CHARGING STATIONS

The world is quickly moving to more sustainable technology, and this change encompasses everything from green energy production to smart IoT infrastructure. Besides decreasing the pollution, designers and city planners are also on a quest to lessen visual clutter in cities and make them more aesthetically pleasing.

7) SENSOR-POWERED RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION IN CLEANING BUSINESS

Digitalization and automation have positively affected a lot of areas of our daily lives. However, the cleaning services do not seem to be as much impacted by this evolution. Aside from improved cleaning products and equipment, there are not that many machines or optimization processes available on the market. However, our partners Mero and Novotech challenge this outdated approach to cleaning by stating that “It’s time for the cleaning industry to catch up and embrace intelligent building technologies that help in boosting productivity and saving on costs.”

8) IoT PRESERVING ANCIENT UNDERWATER TREASURES

At the beginning of 2019, the design of the Underwater Visual Observation System NOUS was born. The system got installed at the ancient shipwreck of Peristera, at Alonissos island, Northern Sporades. For the first time in the world, it enabled continuous monitoring of an underwater museum. As a breakthrough in underwater surveillance, such a system could have many other possible applications, including monitoring of marine protected parks, sea farms, scientific observations for biodiversity and climate change, and many more.

9) REMOTELY MONITORED WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Efficient water management is becoming a more and more discussed topic at various levels because of humanitarian, ecological and economic reasons. Optimized and safe handling of drinking water is an obligation that needs to be carried out by operators, investors, sanitary equipment installers, planners, and facility managers. Contaminated water could cause much harm, and the supervisors are trying to reduce such risks by all means. Besides, cutting reckless waste of water in public restrooms could help save significant amounts for water, heating, and servicing bills.

10) OPTIMIZED USE OF RESOURCES IN DAIKIN HVAC SYSTEMS WITH 4G CONNECTIVITY

Any residential, commercial, or industrial building requires a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. Consumers usually do not notice the significance of HVAC in everyday life as long as it functions properly. However, whenever there is any failure in any part of the HVAC system, the effects are felt immediately. Since the HVAC system not only provides heating and ventilation but also ensures appropriate humidity levels, temperature control, removes dust, odours, bacteria, and increases the overall quality of air, seamless functioning of these systems are especially important in industrial use.

11) REMOTELY MANAGED PHOTO BOOTHS

Nowadays, with the rise of smartphone culture and their evolving AI-driven cameras, people are rarely using other methods for photography as well as printing services. The film has become more of a hobby and photo albums are rarely seen around households anymore. Businesses ought to look at this niche more creatively if they wish to continue their occupation. Our partner, Lensley Automatic, offers a photo booth rental for venues and events. They looked at it from a new angle and started to utilize it as a great tool to increase publicity and collect valuable marketing data.

12) DOOR AUTOMATION WITH DOORDECK

Nowadays we rarely witness employees using a set of keys to enter a building. It has become a common practice to use key cards or fobs for access. However, there are disadvantages and security risks when using traditional access control systems. Key cards and fobs are easily lost and can be duplicated. They are often forgotten or shared by colleagues, therefore, aren’t good at identifying who has entered or left a building. There’s also a lot of administrative work that comes with programming and issuing new cards. Plus, they are pretty annoying as an extra thing to carry around.

13) AUTONOMOUS DELIVERY ROBOTS ENHANCE SAFETY AND PRODUCTIVITY

The dramatic growth of globalization over the last decades has led to equally dramatic growth in healthcare, hospitality, and office businesses and facilities. For example, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), hospitality now drives around one-tenth of the world’s total GDP. However, recent times have not been easy in these sectors. For example, COVID-19 pandemic led business leaders to look for new improved and safer ways to provide their services. Companies are now considering new and creative solutions to not only comply with distancing requirements but also attract customers, guests, and patients to visit and feel safe in their businesses.

14) MODERN CONNECTIVITY SOLUTION FOR ZEPPELIN SIGHTSEEING FLIGHTS

The history of Zeppelin airship dates back to 1900. Originally designed by Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin in Germany, the airship became most popular after World War I in the 1920s with the round-the-world-flight and other missions. However, after the crash of airship LZ 129 Hindenburg during landing in 1937, the production of the Zeppelin aircraft has been discontinued and did not resume until the nineties. In 1993 Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik GmbH launched the Zeppelin NT, which was a new improved version of its ancestor. It became much smaller and gained a completely different purpose. For the last couple of decades, the Zeppelin has mainly been used for sightseeing.

15) SECURE CONNECTIVITY FOR REMOTE EDUCATION

As the world is still paralyzed by actions taken to stop the spread of the novel COVID-19, many countries are facing different problems. Every day people are losing jobs, more and more people are getting sick, many businesses stopped working, and even some of them shut down their activities, at least while quarantine measures are still in place. Naturally, this includes all educational activities, including banning schools, universities, and kindergartens. Even though according to “KidsHealth” virus seems to cause a milder infection in children usually, but they can easily create a danger to the adults.

16) SECURE AND RELIABLE REMOTE OFFICE CONNECTIVITY

The global outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at the beginning of 2020 has brought unseen challenges to the global economies. This is undoubtedly the World’s Largest Work-From-Home Experiment, and it would not be possible without important technology and connectivity advancements that happened over the last few decades. However, even with widespread broadband and cellular connectivity, businesses must take extra steps to make sure their workforces are not only connected to the Internet but also use the right equipment. It is essential to make sure that devices used can prevent cybersecurity threats and integrate with enterprise systems that would otherwise stay within office walls.

17) LTE ENABLED PHOTO PRINTING SERVICES

The consumer behavior is changing. The rise of e-commerce, increased urbanization and overall pace of living are altering the way we procure daily services and receive ordered goods. The photography industry has experienced even more significant changes within the last decades. Going from analog to digital has impacted the whole industry and the way consumers obtain physical photo prints. CEWE – a leading photo service provided from Germany has deployed more than 4000 self-service photo terminals, which are providing services to customers 24/7, allowing them to print their pictures from smartphones, online accounts, and storage media. All of this would not be possible without a secure and reliable connection to the Internet, and CEWE has chosen Teltonika Networks routers to complete this task.

18) EV CHARGER MANAGEMENT - CIRCONTROL

As global sales of electric powered vehicles (EV) are expected to climb to 2 million new vehicles in 2019, EV charging infrastructure is becoming more and more crucial in global shift towards more environmentally sustainable future. Circontrol eMobility solutions can be found in 52 countries with 30.000 charging points and 400.000 parking spaces managed with COSMOS & CirPark systems. Service is extremely important for the company and its clients, therefore qualified aftersales service and a constant training for Circontrol partners are in company’s DNA. However, in order to meet high reliability and cost-efficient management requirements of the EV charging operators Circontrol turned to Teltonika to assist in providing secure and functional communication hardware for the task.

19) INDUSTRY 4.0 POWDER COATING SYSTEMS

Powder Coating is a process during which a metal part is covered with high-quality, durable finish with improved efficiencies and simplified environmental compliance. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat. This coating method is common for many markets, including industrial production, automotive and domestically used goods.
